This wine made from our mountain vineyard shows its characteristic Howell Mountain origin: dark, brooding, bramble, smoke, and spice on the nose, blackberry, cherry, tea, cocoa, and cassis flavors carry through the finish, supported by a rich mouthfeel, balanced acidity and firm but well developed mountain tannins. Tinged in hue, the aroma's are of black raspberry, blueberry, cherry, crushed rose, smoke, and spice. Cherry and bramble carry through in the flavors on the palate, and are joined by pencil-lead, tobacco, and fall leaf and a silky, smooth mid-palate. The wine finishes with supple tannins, smoke, spice and dark brambly fruit. While the tannins are very well resolved, there is enough grip to reward cellaring.
