The Estate Terraces curl around the northeastern slopes of the landmark Garretto Hills featured on our label. Replanted with Pinot Noir in 2004 our smug anticipation had begun to wither. Then in 2010 it hit. The character we had imagined at the beginning showed itself; six tough years to finally sink roots deep into these exposed northern benches. This new bottling captures the savory side of Carneros. It’s no simple fruit bomb. You will note a more serious aspect in the dark and brooding forest floor undertones sparring with pomegranate and cranberry essence. It’s a wine for the season with flavors that should merge magically with the juniper, sage, and bay in any recipe.
